We Welcome Your Help

Do you want to improve children’s well-being, and do you have a special skill to share? Then consider volunteering for Healthy NewsWorks!

We currently are seeking volunteers to help with our Cub Reporter program (Grades K-3). View the job description here.

We have other opportunities as well, and welcome engagement from active or retired health professionals, journalists, teachers, artists, and community organizers, as well as parents, college or graduate students, and others who would like to get involved. Some of the roles volunteers serve include:



Assisting teachers and students in the classroom in developing newspapers.

Editing and proofreading newspapers and other materials.



Translating newspapers into Spanish.



Organizing special events for students and schools.

Mentoring students to develop art and multimedia content.

Providing healthcare expertise for classrooms and Healthy NewsWorks.

Helping to raise funds and nurturing community partnerships.

Since 2003, Healthy NewsWorks has been empowering elementary and middle school students to become researchers, writers, and confident communicators who advance health understanding and literacy through their factual publications and digital media.
