b'About our 2020 leadersIshmail Abdus-Saboor, Ph.D., a molecular neurobiologist, is the Mitchell J. Blutt and Margo Krody Blutt Presidential Assistant Professor of Biology at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Abdus-Saboor earned a bachelors degree in animal science from North Carolina A&T University and a doctorate in cell and molecular biology from Penn. He opened his basic science research lab in July 2018 with generous startup funds from Penn and a K99/R00 Pathway to Independence grant from the National Institutes of Health.Dave Brindley is founder of the nonprofit Not in Philly, which encourages Philadelphia residents to sign up to adopt their neighborhood blocks and remove litter from their streets. He volunteers his time to run the organization and cleans trash on his own block in West Philadelphia. He also serves as a volunteer for 5th Square, an urbanist political action committee that advocates for a more accessible, sustainable, and equitable city for all Philadelphians. He has joined 5th Square in supporting more protected bike lanes and better public transportation. Mr. Brindley graduated from West Chester University with a bachelors degree in Social Studies Teacher Education.Brandi Chawaga is director of community wellness at Einstein Medical Center Montgomery. She analyzes needs assessments and directs several community outreach programs, including the Nurse-Family Partnership Program and Einsteins rooftop garden in Norristown. She started the Junior Inspector program at the Elmwood Park Zoo while working for the Montgomery County Health Department, and continues to support it in her current position. Ms. Chawaga received a bachelors degree in kinesiology, specializing in health promotion and fitness, from the University of Texas at Austin and a master of education degree in health and physical education from East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania.Joanne Douglas is manager of the Watershed Interpretation and Youth River Program atBartrams Garden in Philadelphia. She earned a bachelors degree in political science from the University of Pennsylvania and is working toward a masters degree in environmental studies from Penn. PennFuture, an environmental organization, honored her with its 2018 Women in Conserva-tion Award. Green Philly, a sustainability-focused media organization, honored her with its 2019 Climate Hero Award. She is also an environmental artist who investigates the complicated con-nections among people, water, and industry.38'
