37 Dr. Dan Gottlieb taught me to make the best of bad situations. ... Dr. Dan Gottlieb got bullied [when he was a child] and so do a lot of other people. He taught me not to keep my feelings bottled up inside because it is not healthy for me or anybody. Also, if you or someone else is being bullied, you need to tell someone and get it off your chest. It was an honor interviewing Dr. Dan Gottlieb. At first I was nervous, but after a while I started asking myself why was I nervous. Dr. Dan Gottlieb is very easy to talk to and full of great advice. Interviewing Dr. Dan Gottlieb was like talking to your mom. He is kind, honest, and friendly. Hadil said it best: “I got really wild butterflies in my stomach.” We prepared questions for the interview and set up equipment so we could see Dr. Gerberding on Skype. Unfortunately, it didn’t work for us, so we regrouped and conducted the interview by phone. You could feel the excitement and nervousness in our classroom. I was so nervous because I had to do the introduction, but after a while, I relaxed. Having the opportunity to interview such a renowned person as Dr. Gerberding is a big responsibility. “Asking her questions made me feel like a leader myself,” Jacey said. “It was truly an honor.” Conducting this interview with Dr. Gerberding made me feel proud. I liked getting to know Dr. Gerberding on a personal level. She talked to us about how she manages stress and how she stays healthy. I feel I gained some confidence because of this wonderful opportunity. — By Mia Laquidara, fourth grade, Marshall Street Elementary School Illustration by Sariyah Thomas, James Dobson Fit Fin
