Healthy NewsWorks is thrilled to announce the publication of the inaugural issue of its magazine, By Kids, For Kids.
In By Kids, For Kids: Caring for Our Earth and Ourselves, our reporters consider the environmental and health benefits of such activities as walking instead of riding in a vehicle, drinking water from reusable bottles, and disposing of electronics appropriately.
They also explore their own feelings about the impact of climate change on the planet and neighborhoods and discover solutions that people are testing and implementing.
By Kids, For Kids currently is being distributed to students in our school network. It also includes educational activities teachers can use in their classrooms. There are even more activities online.
The colorful, vibrant magazine is full of informative reporting and is peppered with fun facts, interesting blurbs, and games such as Word Scramble. There’s even a coloring page!
“There are many people to thank for helping to create our new magazine, including more than a dozen experts who participated in student interviews,” said Marian Uhlman, Healthy NewsWorks executive director. “Hats off to Andrea Miller Tan of Miller Tan Creative who brought all the content together in a beautifully designed publication.”
Of course, none of this would be possible without our Healthy NewsWorks staff and volunteers, our partner school teachers, and our amazing student journalists. We are grateful to get to work with you on our continuing mission to empower elementary and middle school students to become researchers, writers, critical thinkers, and confident communicators who advance health understanding and literacy through their factual publications and digital media.
