Healthy NewsWorks wins Project Innovation Grant
June 25, 2021

June 2021 … We are delighted to announce that Healthy NewsWorks has been named a winner of the Comcast NBCUniversal Foundation’s 2021 Project Innovation Grant Challenge!

The Comcast NBCUniversal Foundation and NBC- and Telemundo-owned stations in 11 markets this year awarded nearly $3.5 million to 100 nonprofits solving everyday problems in our communities through innovative solutions.

Healthy NewsWorks, which guides youth through a journalism program in which they learn and report about public health and healthy behaviors, will use this funding to expand the reach of our publications and build stronger relationships with participants’ families and the broader community.

Ten of the winning nonprofits, Healthy NewsWorks among them, are in the Philadelphia area.

“We are proud to support 10 nonprofits that are using innovation to address local community issues in the areas of community engagement, culture of inclusion, next-generation storytelling, and youth education and empowerment,” said Ric Harris, president and general manager of NBC10 and Telemundo62. “These organizations are addressing many real-life challenges that our communities face every day, and we’re excited that the Project Innovation grants will help build stronger communities throughout the Greater Philadelphia region.”

This is the fourth year that NBC10 and Telemundo62 have recognized local nonprofits with Project Innovation grants.
