July 2019 … Finding connections among people, birds, trees, gardens, and parks are among the ways 10 Philadelphia-area health leaders say they’re working to make our communities healthier and safer. Their stories are told in Leading Healthy Change In Our Communities 2019, the ninth book in the Healthy NewsWorks series on health leadership.
This book includes interviews and illustrations by more than 120 Philadelphia-area elementary and middle school students who participated in the Healthy NewsWorks student media program during the 2018–19 school year. They were among the 340 students who participated in our Core Reporting Program in Grades 3–8 this year.
Our Hearty Kids program, which works to make heart health information accessible to K–2 students, engaged nearly 390 young reporters. Healthy NewsWorks also completed special classroom visits involving 600 additional students.
