They research. They write. They proofread!
November 15, 2018

November 2018…When proofs of the Whitehall Healthy Reporter hit their work tables, the newspaper staffers’ first reaction was giddy exhilaration. The second? Getting down to business.

With all the intensity of old-fashioned proofreaders (minus the green eyeshades) the students read the stories, word by word. They focused on bylines. They looked closely at the masthead.

The dedication paid off. They found a botched teacher identification—a mistake that had eluded at least two adult supervisors—and nailed a couple of misspelled names.

And then it was on to preparing for issue number two!

The Healthy Reporter is in its 11th year of publication at Whitehall Elementary School in the Norristown Area School District. It’s one of 15 schools participating in the Healthy NewsWorks program this school year.
