Unscramble these letters: E-C-S-O-R-U
October 17, 2017

October 2017 … Clue: The letters in the headline form a word referring to somebody or something that provides information.

This is one question in a new series of 10 web games created by Healthy NewsWorks to reinforce student learning among its reporters in grades 3 to 8. The topics cover web research, journalism, and health topics. Because heart health is Healthy NewsWorks’ special topic this year, several games give students a chance to test their knowledge.

Besides word scrambles, the games include Q&A’s and true/false questions. One game even gives players a chance to practice their jump shots—virtually, of course.

“Our hope is that these games will be engaging for our reporters and strengthen their knowledge,” said Marian Uhlman, Healthy NewsWorks executive director. “We are always looking for ways for reporters to practice and use their skills.”

As resources become available, Healthy NewsWorks plans to increase its educational games and other offerings on its website.

Try your hand with the new web games and see how your health and literacy knowledge stacks up!
