WHYY highlights student interview with Eagles player
May 30, 2017

May 2017…Kok-Leang Kaing and Jayden Williams, two 8th grade reporters from AMY Northwest, recently had the opportunity to interview NFL Eagles player Ron Brooks at the Philadelphia Eagles NovaCare complex. The main focus of their interview centered on resiliency, which was one of the themes of Healthy NewsWorks’ “Play Well: Preparing for a healthy life!” initiative. As part of the initiative, student reporters have researched and written stories on bone health, aerobic exercise, healthy snacking, and resiliency, among other topics, throughout the 2016-17 school year. Brooks told the reporters how he was able to be resilient after suffering a season-ending injury last fall.  Anne Hoffman, a health reporter with WHYY’s Newsworks Tonight, reported on the students’ experience.
