August 21, 2016

August 2016…We are starting to work on the 2017 edition of Leading Healthy Change In Our Communities! We’d like your help in nominating health leaders for consideration. We’ve extended the deadline to September 1.

As in past years, our student health reporters will interview 12 Philadelphia-area health leaders for the book. For 2017, our focus will be on leaders who help prepare children for active and healthy lives. The book will be published in May 2017.

We are looking for a diverse group of people and topics. Some possibilities could include urban gardening, smoking cessation, cycling, sportsmanship, and water safety. And plenty more!

In addition to making the community healthier, your nominee should:

  • Be distinguished in his or her chosen field or profession.
  • Serve as a role model for how people can improve children’s lives.
  • Offer a perspective on health that school children can relate to.

To submit a nomination, please send an email by Friday, September 1, to editor@HealthyNewsWorks.org.

Be sure to tell us your nominee’s name and his or her place of work, organization, or school. Also describe briefly why you feel he or she would be a good leader for Healthy NewsWorks student reporters to interview and write about.

We look forward to hearing from you!
