March 2016…Healthy NewsWorks is pleased to announce that Dr. Julie Gerberding will be the keynote speaker at the 2016 book launch and fundraiser event scheduled for May 24, 2016. Dr. Gerberding is the executive vice president for strategic communications, global public policy, and population health at Merck, and is also the former director of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Dr. Gerberding was also one of the health leaders featured in the 2015 edition of Leading Healthy Change In Our Communities. In her interview for the book, she explained how her desire and determination to help people when she was as young as 4, led her to become a leader in helping to prevent and contain health crises. She has also been instrumental to making Merck’s vaccines more affordable and accessible.
In her current role at Merck, she is responsible for its global public policy, corporate responsibility and communications functions, and the Merck Foundation and the Merck for Mothers program.
