Captain Apple-cise comes to Gotwals

December 2014…Gotwals Healthy Press staffers at Gotwals Elementary School in Norristown, Pa., have created a superhero mascot to help them promote their school health newspaper.

The reporters named their mascot Captain Apple-cise. The mascot comes to life when a reporter slips into the cardboard apple, which is red on one side and green on the other. The mascot also wears sweat bands around his or her head and wrists. And for a finishing a touch, the mascot also dons a yellow and black cape.

The mascot will accompany fellow reporters when they deliver the newspapers to Gotwals classrooms and encourage all the students in the school to read it.
